The NFL has warned MN that the Vikings may move to
another city if a new stadium is not approved.
I enjoy watching the Vikings but also say: let them
go.
Does anyone take the time to look at the costs
associated with a stadium and ask if makes sense?
Listed below is a simple analysis of the cost:
Life 30 years
Capacity 75000
8 home games per year be generous make it 10
with exhibition games
(total 300 games)
stadium cost $1,000,000,000
$3,333,333 per game
$44.44 per seat per game
does not include maintenance/upkeep of the stadium
It made sense when the Twins shared the stadium
The addition of 80 home
baseball games a year with about
40,000 attending appreciably reduced cost per seat per game
If the fans had to pay the true cost of the stadium plus the
profits
sought by the team owners and the players, no one would
attend.
I think there are higher priorities for scarce dollars than
subsidizing the owners and players.
Let the owners take their toys and go to a new home. |
