In my first rambler, I called the elected official who is calling for a hearing on the missing football tape a nitwit. This is demeaning. Since a nit is a louse egg, I apologize to the louse. Also, said elected official will probably claim that a hearing on the missing tapes is called for by the “Patriots” act.
I understand the next hearings will involve the music industry and the possible use of stereoids-and will involve both house “speakers.” Why don’t they have a “doer” of the house? Why do both houses hold hearings? Why don’t they try a listening?
Yesterday’s news had an article about a dairy farm in Vermont where the manure was being put into a storage tank to ferment and create methane. The methane is being used to generate electricity for the farm and to sell to other farms in the area. It claimed that this disposes of the manure and the smell and generates power. My first thought was The House and The Senate. The power production would be a bonus.
Another governmental question: when fines are imposed by the government, are they every collected? Or is this a façade like so many other political items?
Why are athletes going to jail for perjury when the tobacco executives who lied under oath about the addictiveness of cigarettes are not?
About a generation ago, there was the “Savings and Loan Scandal.” Now we have the Subprime Scandal. With the increasing number of retirees and the increased ads for reverse mortgages, will this be the next fiasco? Will watch this with interest.
I applaud the hospitals in Minnesota that recently decided to remove the influence of medical supply and pharmaceutical companies. They passed a code of conduct eliminating meals and other influencing gifts. This was followed by the removal of all samples, note pads, pens…. Samples were sent to Africa. Other usable items were given to area schools. A definite move in the right direction. Another option for the disposal of the samples is putting them into capsules and returning them to the supplying company for use as suppositories by the executives.
Anyone who doesn’t believe in evolution needs to consider gerrymandering. It’s has morphed into gerrypandering.
Not sure where these ramblers will go, but reserve the right to be: sarcastic, sardonic, satirical, offensive, and occasionally humorous. This may also involve the mangling of words to get the desired effect.
