Rambler 15

Archeology is a trip into yestertier.

Isn’t it funny (ironic) that the House and Senate can aggressively pursue baseball players over steroids, but can barely admonish fellow members who commit felonies? This appears to be a case of the emboldened rule: “do unto others what they might have to do unto you”?

Now that I am retired, I watch all the medicine commercials on TV to see what new disease I might have (when my mind altering drug lets me).

A week or two ago there was a news item on TV about Northwest Airlines being forgiven about $200 million in taxes by the IRS. Now a merger between Delta and Northwest is possibly underway. There is about a $400 million buyout required if Northwest leaves the Twin Cities. Does that fly in the face of coincidence? Or was the Delta Force on a special mission?

The U.S. Army will be presenting an albino sergeant with an award for uncommon pallor, and said this should not be taken lightly.

The Insect Defamation League said comments made two weeks ago about nits are all lice.

Education costs rise each year. When will universities be held accountable to the students? Inefficient schedules, unavailable courses, ineffective or outdated courses, poorly communicated changes in requirements, incompetent professors, requirements to buy new books (changed every year or two to ensure the authoring professor gets his/her royalties), high housing costs and the list goes on. I remember one of mine flunking a course and when talking about it the other said you must have had professor “”. The university looks at statistics, the parents or the students look at the costs and the benefits. How many colleges do surveys of graduates or graduates’ employers a few years after graduation to see what can be done better? Some are known for their MBA programs. Why don’t they practice what they teach?

According to the Boy Scout Council all new knots will undergo a double bind test. (The Girl Scouts will use a placebow.)

Testing of a high pressure waste pump has resulted in a grate suckcess (causing concern in DC).

Now that I am on oxygen hoses, will I be invited to the Tether Ball?

Because of the economic downturn, I bought a car from dislexusic dealer.

I believe the Robinson-Patman (spelling) Act required small customers to be treated the same as large customers in certain aspects of business. We should pass a law granting the same rights to voters that the PAC’s have and for the business the House and Senate give us. I forgot! That act had to do with pricing and we voters can’t afford it (but we’re still going to pay for it).

Government sites have: computers stolen; data stolen, secrets stolen etc. Does anyone ever get tried, demoted, or fired? Does anyone care?

Did you notice the great pride President Bush displayed in saying some trees were saved by the use of the computer notebooks to convey a $3.1 trillion budget to the two houses? If it would eliminate a trillion or two, I would accept the loss of some trees (possibly a forest).

Why do they call it the Ways and Means Committee when it’s always beyond our means?

Because of all of its man-made lakes, the U.S. is high on the list of dam nations. (A serious note, the rotation of the earth has slowed very slightly because of the addition of such lakes.)
